Class III Guide School 2008

River and Rock Adventures offers a springtime guide school for
boaters interested in becoming commercial guides, as well as summertime guide schools for the recreational boater who wants to learn how to take the family down the river.

Commercial/Recreational Guide School (April 19th-20th, April 26th-27th, and May 3rd-4th)
Our guide school is excellent for rafters who want to guide class III trips commerically, OR for people who just want to learn how to take their family down the river. We will begin at 8AM on the 19th in camp for 2 days on the South Fork American. On the second weekend, we'll venture away from the South Fork American for a day and get a chance to guide boats on the Truckee river, as well as spend a day on the South Fork. The trip to the truckee river depends on the river flows. We will conclude guide school with 2 more days on the South Fork beginning at 8AM on May 4th in camp. This guide school is an intensive program designed to prepare potential guides for commercial guiding on the South Fork of the American River, which will include the skills necessary to understand class III guiding on other rivers as well.

Guinea Pig trips to gain experience can be run with a commercial trip throughout the spring and summertime. The price for each guinea pig is $45 per person, with a minimum of 4 people. All guides will be required to run 3 guinea pig trips and an evaluation run with an experienced guide prior to running a commercial trip with River and Rock Adventures.
